This procedure involves opening the casing of your notebook. While doing so, special precautions to avoid Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) must be taken. Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can harm the parts of a computer.
You can take some precautions to prevent damaging of the computer parts. Note that ESD is not harmful to your health.
Instructions: • Preferably, wear a grounding wrist strap (available at most electronic stores). • Avoid static-causing surfaces such as plastic and styrofoam in your work area. • Turn the system power off, and disconnect the AC Adapter. • Touch the metal base of the system, once the unit has been opened. • Never slide cards or other parts over any surface.
Before you replace the battery inside your notebook, please make sure the notebook is completely turned off and not connected to the AC Adapter. Please allow the notebook to cool down for a considerable time (5~10 minutes) before proceeding with the steps described below.
- Opening the cover requires a Philips-type screwdriver. To avoid damage to the casing please make sure the screwdriver is sharp-tipped and of the proper size. Ideally a screwdriver with magnetic tip should be used.
- Close the LCD panel and turn the computer over.
- Locate the four screws (B) on the cover (A).

- Remove the screws. These should be kept in a safe location.
- Slide the cover in the direction of the arrow and then lift it away from the computer.

- To remove the battery (A) locate the battery loop (B).

- Pull the loop up to lift the battery out of the computer. The old battery needs to be disposed of in a safe manner.
- Align the replacement battery pack (A) with the battery contacts (B) and gently lower into place.

- Replace the lid and slide back into position.
- Replace the four screws.
